1. Clinical
Responsible for the smooth operation of OT and Daycare Surgery.
Investigates complaints of patients, doctors and staff and take appropriate actions and follow-up to ensure the complaints have been resolved and corrective actions implemented.
Promotes a cost-conscious approach to the delivery of patient care and to establish mechanisms to ensure that human and material resources are utilized in a cost-effective manner.
Maintains a cordial and harmonious relationship with the medical staff; assists them in understanding the needs and implications in the provision of Nursing Service within the assigned area.
Seeks the support and cooperation of the medical staff in the provision of related medical and nursing care.
Works with the Senior Manager, OT Services – CSSD and Administrator, Nursing Services to promote the development, launch and operate new services related to overall organization management plan.
Works with the Senior Manager, OT Services – CSSD to ensure good inventory control within the Division.
Promotes a cost-conscious approach in the delivery of services and establishes mechanisms to ensure that resources are utilized in a cost effective manner.
Participates in the evaluation of specialized equipment and makes the appropriate recommendations.
Functions as a member of the Codes Yellow and Orange team.
2. Administrative Duties
Plans, organizes and administers functions and activities in accordance with short and long term Goals and Objectives of the hospital as well as professional codes and regulations in OT Services.
Responsible for establishing standard protocols and ensure policies are maintained within the departments under her charge.
Works with the Senior Manager, OT services – CSSD to prepares annual Business Plan and set Goals & Objectives.
Provides input to the Senior Manager, OT services – CSSD for the latter to prepare and manage the budget including purchasing of new equipment to upgrade the system.
Coordinates the formulation and maintenance of an effective and continuous programme for the orientation training, and supervision of personnel.
Ensure the monitoring and control of the OT inventory of consumables.
Reviews with the Senior Nurse Manager, OT services – CSSD and maintains its annual budget to ensure that financial targets and departmental action plans are met in line with the hospital’s business plans and visions.
Conducts monthly staff committee meetings to discuss operational issues and plans towards improvement of services and systems.
Human Resource Management
Manages personnel by participating in selection, placement, promotion, evaluation and takes disciplinary actions when necessary.
Arranges for key personnel to attend workshops and seminars to keep up to date with knowledge and skills.
Ensures that a comprehensive orientation program is in place for all newly appointed staff.
Participates in delivering lectures organized by the hospital.
Ensures staff undergo the OJT in the assigned area.
Assists and supervises the managers with evaluations and staff counseling for performance improvement.
Responsible for carrying out grievances proceedings as and when required.
Participates and monitors the progress of nurses and technicians
undertaking the OT Post Basic course and OT Anesthetic course.
Responsible for a staff development program for all nursing staff to facilitate and encourage continuing development of each individual as a professional practitioner.
Quality Assurance Programme
• Ensures the provision of high quality nursing care services with the on-going involvement in the quality initiative Program of the hospital.
Maintain compliance with nursing care practices as established and adopted by the hospital and in line with accreditation standards.

Plans staffing and OT sessions projection in accordance with the Business Plan and Expansion Programs.
Participates in the OT Committee and other assigned task forces in the hospital.
Reviews and prepare reports for assigned units and make recommendations for new services or improvement of services.
Reviews incident reports and take appropriate action and make recommendations.
Any other duties as assigned by the Administrator, Nursing Services
Develops, initiates, monitors and evaluates Quality Indicators and implement appropriate action for improvement.
Reviews the outcomes of the Integrated Management Audit for improvement.
Reviews and updates all SOPs/ Task Procedures pertaining to OT Services and policies every three (3) years and when necessary from time to time.
