Job Description :

The Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine leads in the academic and strategic leadership of the school. The role encompasses oversight of academic and training programmes, research and innovation, clinical partnerships, and quality assurance. In addition to serving the School, the Dean plays a critical role in aligning academic and clinical priorities with the wider objectives of our client's Academic Health System.

1. Academic Leadership and Programme Quality

● Provides strategic academic leadership across Medical School;

● Oversee the design, delivery, review, and accreditation of postgraduate medical programmes as well as other training programmes;

● Ensure academic offerings meet regulatory and professional standards, including those of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), and Malaysian Medical Council (MMC); and

● Ensure academic alignment and relevance to clinical practice within our client's Health System.

2. Strategic Planning and Institutional Alignment

● Contribute to the development and implementation of the School’s strategic and operational plans in line with our client's Healthcare University's vision and our client's Health System’s broader goals;

● Work closely with the Enrollment Office to ensure that student enrolment targets and associated revenue for GSOM are achieved and activities are managed effectively within the approved budgetary framework; and

● Work closely with our client's hospital network to ensure clinical training and academic initiatives meet both academic and healthcare service needs.

3. Postgraduate Training and Clinical Education

● Lead coordination and delivery of specialist training programmes in collaboration with hospital consultants, clinical educators, and KPJ Group hospitals including for the Centre for Experiential Learning; and

● Strengthen the integration between academic teaching and clinical service, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for specialist roles within our client's group and beyond.

4. Research and Scholarly Development

● Foster a research-led teaching environment and support academics’ research productivity and postgraduate research supervision;

● Promote clinical and translational research in partnership with KPJ hospitals and external collaborators; and

● Support compliance with research ethics and publication standards.

5. Academic and Clinical Staff Development

● Support the recruitment, mentoring, and development of academic and clinical teaching staff;

● Promote continuous professional development (CPD) activities aligned with current medical education and healthcare trends; and

● Work with hospital-based educators to enhance teaching effectiveness and clinical supervision.

6. Student Experience and Academic Governance

● Oversee postgraduate student progress and completion, welfare, and academic integrity;

● Participate in academic committees and governance structures of the School and the University; and

● Facilitate strong communication between students, faculty members, and clinical stakeholders within our client's network.

7. Clinical Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a key liaison between the School our and client's clinical institutions to strengthen academic-clinical integration.
  • Represent the Graduate School in collaborative inititiatives with our client's health system, external medical bodies and strategic partners and 
  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement efforts, including alumni relations, industry partnerships and professional networks.

8. Operational Management and Resource Planning

  • Lead and managing faculty operations, including budgeting, staffing and compliance;
  • Participate in resource planning to support teaching and research infrastructure and 
  • Support quality assurance processes and risk management within academic and clinical settings.
