The Deputy Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine (GSOM) provides strategic and operational support to the Dean in leading and managing the academic, research, and administrative functions of the School. The Deputy Dean plays a critical role in shaping academic policies, supporting faculty development, and ensuring high standards in postgraduate medical education and research.
Academic Leadership & Strategic Development
- Assist the Dean in the strategic planning and development of the School’s academic vision, goals, and initiatives.
- Oversee curriculum development and enhancement for postgraduate programs to align with international standards and evolving healthcare needs.
- Lead or support accreditation and quality assurance activities.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across departments and faculties.
Research & Innovation
- Promote and support a vibrant research culture, including the development of research programs, grant acquisition, and collaborative partnerships.
- Mentor faculty and students in research methodologies, grant writing, and publication strategies.
Administration & Management
- Support the Dean in daily operations and represent the Dean in internal and external engagements as required.
- Participate in the recruitment, appraisal, and development of academic staff.
- Contribute to budget planning, policy formulation, and governance processes.
- Monitor performance metrics and ensure continuous improvement in academic delivery and student outcomes.
Student Affairs
- Support postgraduate students’ academic progress, professional development, and wellbeing.
- Address academic and administrative issues raised by students in collaboration with relevant departments.
External Engagement
Strengthen links with professional bodies, healthcare institutions, and global academic partners.
Represent the School in conferences, symposia, and stakeholder meetings.
