Job Description :

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) is responsible to oversee and advance the academic mission of the University. The DVC (Academic) will assist the Vice Chancellor in shaping the institution's academic strategy, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, and research are maintained across all faculties and disciplines. The DVC Academic works closely with the Vice Chancellor, Deans, and other Directors to develop and implement policies that enhance academic quality, promote innovation in curriculum design, and delivery high quality support student success.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) is also responsible for leading the University's academic planning and development, including the evaluation and accreditation of academic programmes, the enhancement of school/centre development initiatives, and the integration of cutting-edge educational technologies besides ensuring the implementation complies to all regulations and policies set by the relevant ministries and related agencies (MQA, EMGS and etc)

  1. Provide visionary leadership in the development and implementation of the University’s academic strategy, ensuring alignment with the institution’s overall mission and goals.
  2. Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of academic standards, including the accreditation of programmes and the implementation of quality assurance processes.
  3. Lead the innovation and continuous improvement of curricula across all faculties, ensuring that academic offerings meet the evolving needs of students and the demands of the job market.
  4. Foster a culture of excellence in teaching and research by promoting professional development opportunities, mentoring faculty, and supporting scholarly activities.
  5. Implement strategies to enhance student learning experiences, improve retention and graduation rates, and support diverse and inclusive learning environments.
  6. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners, to advance the University’s academic reputation and contribute to community engagement.
  7. Supervise the Registrar’s Office, including management of staff, budgets, and resources.
  8. Ensure the effective administration of student records, registration, grading, and graduation processes.
  9. Oversee the maintenance and security of academic records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  10. Develop, revise, and implement policies related to academic affairs and registrar functions.
  11. Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements, legal regulations, and institutional standards. 
  12. Ensure appropriate teaching and modules evaluations, mechanism is in place. 
  13. Monitor and assess academic performance and student satisfaction. 
  14. Represent the institution in academic and administrative matters at external meetings and forums
  15. Manage and resolve complex issues and conflicts related to academic and registrar functions.
