The Director of FHI provides strategic leadership and direction to position the Institute as a nationally and internationally recognised hub for healthcare transformation.
The role drives excellence in training, translational research, digital innovation and health system intelligence and is responsible for translating vision into executable strategies and measurable outcomes. Working alongside Centre Directors, the Director ensures the credibility of programmes and outcomes, seamless integration with our client's Health System priorities, and the long-term sustainability of FHI, in alignment with the vision and priorities of our client's Health System Governing Council.
Through the delivery of high-impact training, translational research, digital innovation and system intelligence, the Director leads to ensure FHI delivers measurable improvements in patient outcomes, workforce capability and overall health system performance.

- Matrix Reporting: Vice Chancellor, University (academic and research programmes)
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Institute Development
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to position FHI as a nationally and internationally recognised centre for healthcare transformation.
- Translate our client's health System Leadership Council priorities into a clear, executable strategy and roadmap for FHI.
- Drive the development of FHI’s medium- and long-term plans, ensuring relevance, impact and financial sustainability.
Programme, Innovation & Accreditation Oversight
- Provide strategic oversight of the design, delivery and continuous improvement of FHI programmes across training, translational research, digital health innovation and health system intelligence.
- Drive innovation and applied research that delivers measurable improvements in patient outcomes, workforce capability and health system performance.
- Work alongside Centre Directors to co-develop and deliver programmes, ensuring alignment with centre expertise, our client's Health System priorities and market needs.
- Coordinate and support accreditation, regulatory and quality assurance processes for programmes, working collaboratively with Centre Directors and relevant internal units, where applicable.
- Ensure the credibility, academic integrity and outcomes focus of programmes through shared governance and collective accountability.
Revenue Generation & Financial Sustainability
- Hold direct responsibility for revenue generation across FHI through programme fees, grants, partnerships, commercialisation and other approved income streams.
- Develop and implement viable business models that support long-term sustainability and growth.
- Monitor financial performance and ensure prudent use of resources in line with approved budgets and targets.
Partnerships & External Engagement
- Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with universities, research institutions, industry players, technology partners and healthcare organisations, locally and internationally.
- Serve as the principal representative of FHI in high-level engagements, collaborations and strategic forums.
- Leverage partnerships to support programme delivery, accreditation, research impact and revenue growth, working jointly with Centres where appropriate.
Integration, Governance & Collaborative Leadership
- Work closely alongside Centre Directors to align FHI initiatives with centre-level strategies, capabilities and delivery plans.
- Provide matrix leadership to enable cross-centre collaboration, shared ownership and coordinated execution.
- Ensure clear roles, responsibilities and decision rights between FHI and Centres, avoiding duplication while maximising collective impact.
- Establish strong governance, risk management and performance monitoring frameworks, with regular reporting to senior leadership.
- Track, evaluate and report on the impact of FHI initiatives, ensuring alignment with our client's Health System priorities.
Role Requirements:
Qualifications & Professional Background
- Medical qualification or healthcare-related background is preferred, with a strong understanding of health systems and clinical environments.
- Postgraduate qualifications in healthcare management, public health, research, innovation or related fields would be an advantage.
Leadership, Strategy & Commercial Acumen
- Proven senior leadership experience with accountability for strategy execution and financial performance.
- Strong commercial and enterprising mindset, with demonstrated experience in revenue generation, funding acquisition or programme commercialisation.
- Ability to operate effectively within a matrix structure, leading through influence and collaboration rather than direct authority.
Quality Assurance
- Familiarity with quality assurance frameworks in healthcare and/or education.
- Experience in relevant regulatory requirements; programme accreditation experience is desirable.
- Experience ensuring programmes meet external standards while remaining responsive to system and market needs.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Management
- Strong track record in establishing and sustaining high-value partnerships across academia, healthcare delivery, industry and technology sectors.
- Able to engage credibly with senior clinicians, academics, industry leaders and regulators.
